Earthquake
今日、午後2時前に地震がありました。アメリカに来てから初めての地震でした。カナダのオタワを中心にした地震で、NY州やカナダに影響があったようです。マグニチュード5.5だとか。
The U.S. Geological Survey said it was centered north of Ottawa. It was measured at magnitude 5.5. The earthquake was centered at a depth of about 12 miles.
Buildings shook and pets were startled, but there are no reports of any serious damage.
" We were rocking pretty good up here," said John Castor of North Rose in Wayne County. He said he was on the phone at the time and felt a circular motion and then some aftershocks.
地震があったとき、ラボのメンバーと話をしていたんですが、アジア人はすぐに地震だと分ったんですが、アメリカ人は信じられない様子でした。明らかに地震の揺れなのに、なにか大きい自動車がそばを通ったんじゃないかと疑っていました。それほど、この地域には地震が来ないということです。
